Trivia: When Halim Al-Rumi suggested to Fairouz to change her name from Nouhad. He told her to either change it to Fairouz or Shaherazade. Obviously she chose Fairouz, but what's ironic is that she has a song that's called 'Shaherazade' and one of its lines is 'Ana Shaherazade/ I am Shaherazade.'

News: Fairouz has given secretary general of the UN Kofi Anan some of her albums, during the time he spent in Beirut. The publicity department in the ESKOA (UN's publicity center in Beirut) has issued a statement that reads "In welcoming the UN secretary general to Lebanon, Fairouz sent him some of her albums which are 'Jerusalem In My Heart', 'Christmas Carols', 'Fairouz in London', 'To Assy', 'Ana Sahrani' and 'Kaifak Inta?'. Fairouz has also included with the CDs the following note: "With my regards to the UN secretary general Mr. Kofi Anan, and to all the efforts he's exerting for a better world where security, peace and human rights exist. My true greetings, Fairouz."

News: It's been confirmed that Fairouz is going to sing in Bahrain. The concert is going to be held at the 'Markaz Al-Khalij Al-Daoli Lil-Mo'itamarat' Thursday, the 26th of March 1998 at 9 P.M. This song can be found on a collection of some of Fairouz's greatest hits. The album which is dedicated to Assi from Fairouz and their son Ziad, contains 18 songs on 19 tracks. All the songs were recorded using new instruments, to give these classics a new feel.

Buy The Albums: City Media This is a great online store that's selling hundreds of compact discs featuring dozens of artists from Lebanon and the Arab world. There are tens of albums by Fairouz, Rahbani Brothers, Ziad Rahbani and Hoda. They sell the discs for 5 to 10 dollars each (to be reduced next month), very cheap. They deliver worldwide. They are based in Lebanon, so they have a faster access to the latest albums. Their site is under heavy construction but in the next week they will have it all polished and working. Future improvments include album covers, songs listing and audio clips. Site's updated every week.
